Cherokee Nation Offering Radon Testing in January

The Cherokee Nation is working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in a national campaign to educate Americans about the dangers of radon exposure and the tribe is offering an incentive: free radon testing for any family who resides within the Cherokee Nation during the month of January.

The Legislative Branch consists of the 15-member Tribal Council elected to represent nine districts of the Cherokee Nation. The Tribal Council initiates legislation and conducts other business which will further the interests of the Cherokee Nation and its membership. The other business which will further the interests of the Cherokee Nation and its membership. The Deputy Chief presides over the Council as its president. Tribal Council terms are four years.

In 1825, the governor of Gerogia showed respect to the Cherokee Nation by mandating - This is my proclamation: all persons shall refrain from trespassing on lands occupied by the Indians. We will expose agressors to punishment by authorities. We shall treat the treaties as the supreme law.
